About Me

Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon with a solid background in General Surgery, recognised for a strong commitment to patient care, innovation, and medical education. With a passion for advancing surgical techniques and a commitment to excellence in both clinical practice and teaching, this professional consistently seeks to improve patient outcomes and inspire future medical professionals.

Education

The medical journey began with a Medical Doctor (MD) degree from Trakia University, Bulgaria, in 2003. Specialisation in General Surgery was completed at the same institution in 2010, followed by the award of a PhD in 2013. The doctoral thesis explored the role of regulatory cytokines in colorectal cancer development, making a valuable contribution to the field of oncology.
 
In parallel with clinical training, a Master’s in Medical Education (MSc) was completed in 2008, reflecting a strong dedication to teaching and mentoring. In 2020, the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in England was conferred, recognising a commitment to surgical excellence and lifelong learning.

Professional Experience

Since 2017, has served as Associate Professor of General Surgery at the Medical Faculty of Trakia University, playing a key role in educating fourth-year UK medical students. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, preparing students for OSCEs, and assessing end-of-module examinations.

Within the NHS, practices as a Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon while maintaining a private practice and academic roles. Clinical work includes performing surgeries, managing outpatient clinics, and contributing to Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to ensure comprehensive, individualised patient care.
 
Recognition includes the Macmillan Cancer Centre Staff Excellence Award (University College London Hospital, April 2017) and a 2023 finalist nomination for the HSJ Performance Recovery Award for contributions to breast cancer recovery planning at the Bristol Breast Care Centre.
 
Beyond hospital settings, provides private outpatient care focused on high-quality diagnostics, precise surgical planning, and personalised treatment strategies. She has been working as a private, non-invasive Cardiologist in a Harley Street clinic for 15 years, with a special interest in hypertension, heart failure, chest pain, sports cardiology, and cardiomyopathy. She has been accredited in echocardiography since 2015 Dr Iskreva also works as an NHS acute medical consultant.
